Meeting Henry!

We had SO much fun with Matt, Manda & our new little nephew Henry the other night. They came over to hang out, eat dinner & receive a nice present from us - pink eye. Just kidding, I don't think any of them got it. Thank goodness, since we've all been sharing it this week! Henry (& his hair :) is adorable & we are so excited to be an aunt & uncle!

Studio Practice - Jan2012

Yesterday we met our friends, Jon & Tracy, at a local photography learning center where they teach classes & have a studio to rent. Jon is learning a lot about photography & I am wanting to - so he helped me set my camera settings & then we had fun taking pictures of our kids. This studio had some great props along with the backdrops, lighting, etc. It was a lot of fun. I haven't done anything to these photos except crop them but I hope to purchase some kind of photo editing program soon - I keep going back & forth on which one to buy - PS Elements...Aperture...Lightroom - any suggestions? :)

Super Michael

Michael has been big into dressing up lately - he often changes clothes throughout the day or adds to his outfits - capes, masks, jewelry...etc. It's fun to hear him explain who he is & what his outfit is. The other day he came out of his room wearing the outfit in the below picture & told me, "I am a workman. I am here to work on your radar system, your water system and your refrigerator system." Hmmm. I think he has been hearing his Daddy talk about radars & systems :)

Michael knows to stay in his room in the mornings & play until his clock says 7:45. When I got up the other morning he had formed this line of cars - he told me they were going on a big vacation & had special jobs to do.

David is 8 Months Old! 1-11-12

David has been on the move this month. He rolls EVERYWHERE. Sometimes he will roll all the way to the kitchen or dining room tile. He loves the exersaucer & still plays very contently for quite some time. He smiles all the time. The most exciting thing is that he said his first word this week! And guess what word it is! Mama!! Hooray! This is a month earlier than Michael & Kate both said their first word. And their first word was Dada. So I was really excited about this :) At first Andy gave me a hard time & pretended he couldn't hear David saying it :) But I have it on video!! David, you are such a sweet, sweet baby & we love you!!

As I write this post Kate is in her bed for a nap (that she never actually took) & she is singing at the top of her lungs - and has been for the last 2 hours. She also talks to her 10+ "friends" that she insists on being in her bed. At least on the days she decides not to nap she is content :) Yesterday & the day before she took 3 hour naps! So who knows :) Kate is keeping us on our toes with her little personality that is developing daily but we sure do love her! Some of our favorite things she says -

"No, I do it!" "I do it by. my. self. !!" She talks about her stuffed animals - "Let me get all my friends!" or "Let me get all my stuff!" One sad thing is she is not really calling Michael "Guycul" anymore. On Dec 28th I noticed that she said Michael instead & she has been doing this since. It's so bittersweet when kids lose their funny, childhood pronunciations of words :(

We love how she calls socks "hocks" & a snack "nack." The few times I've gotten the glue out for her to do an art project she has called it lotion. She is our sweet, funny lady - We love you Kate :)

Christmas with BB & Papa

Christmas 2011

Texas for Christmas --- 8 hour drive + 3 children + everything but the kitchen sink = A very fun but crazy time! We celebrated Christmas with a Christmas Eve service at church, a delicious meal, opening presents & spending time with family. On Tuesday after Christmas my Mom kept the kids for the day while Andy & I drove to San Antonio. We enjoyed seeing friends, eating out & shopping for curtains for our house. My mom & I also had fun going to downtown Fredericksburg to go in & out of shops & art galleries. It was fun to see my dad's sculptures in the Fredericksburg Art Gallery. Andy enjoyed the gorgeous weather to fly his remote control helicopter - his favorite gift :)

One of my favorite things Michael said in December - "Mom, let's get Daddy something for Christmas." me - "That's a great idea! What should we get him?" M - "Let's get him something really cool! How about...a sweater! Because he has a hole in one of his!"

A favorite thing Kate said - We were in Target & I turned on the shoe aisle - I wanted to find Kate some red shoes to go with her Christmas dress (not an easy thing to find 1 week before Christmas!) Right as I was turning on this aisle I asked her if she needed to go potty. She said yes. But then when she realized we were on the shoe aisle she said, "No, no I don't need to go potty!! I need shoes!!"

Santa Visit 2011

We had no idea what to expect with Santa. We guessed that Michael & David would do fine but we weren't sure about Kate. Last year we had to work extremely hard to get to her to stop crying. And she did. But this year, not so much. She was perfectly happy & content until we sat her on Santa's lap. Then she completely freaked out. Michael & David did great though.

You know Santa is thinking, "Seriously. WHY did I sign up for this?!"

Once we joined the picture, Kate relaxed a little bit. So this year's Santa picture is a family picture :) Notice the hilarious placement of David's hand on his chin. As if to say, "This really is an odd tradition. A family picture with a random bearded man in a red suit joining us. Hmmm."

Master Bedroom Makeover

Since moving into our new house I have been wanting to spruce up our bedroom a bit. It's great how just a few simple, inexpensive changes can do the trick. I thought it would be a fun Christmas present for Andy too - he was out of town last weekend, so it was the perfect time to throw it all together.

In October I found new bedside tables, a pillow, a lamp and a few other accents at Ikea. I have also been pinning lots of ideas on Pinterest. One idea I saw was to use a shelf instead of a headboard. I thought this would be a nice change. I found the shelf at Hobby Lobby, repurposed a few frames with spray paint and did the Grow Old With Me painting (another idea found on Pinterest). We already had the candle sconces. I was really happy with how it all tied together. The yellow painting is my newest work that I did in November.

The metal "love" I bought at Hobby Lobby also. It was black so I spray painted it gold to make it stand out more. Yay for spray paint!

I found the letters and scrapbook paper at Hobby Lobby (love that store!) and Modge Podged them.

I found the wire photo holder at Pier One.

The small lamp is from Ikea and the small table I found at a local craft show, An Affair of the Heart, this fall. The painting above the chair is one I did several years ago. I still have plans for the empty wall space by the lamp. I also want to repaint the white cabinet that I bought back in college, but for now we are loving our freshened up space!

Christmas with Po & Nana

We had a great time with Po & Nana! They came on Thursday to visit & celebrate Christmas with us! Thursday night they treated us to Mexican food. Friday we had some hang out time. Fri night Andy grilled hamburgers & I tried these 2 recipes (Sweet Potato Fries & One Pan Skillet Cookie) for the first time - both a success! We opened gifts afterwards. It was a wonderful visit! Thank you for coming Po & Nana! We love you!

Kate loves her Puppy in a Purse (We named her Patty Puppy) & her tea set.

David had no problem figuring out how to open his first gift! He tried with all his might to eat the wrapping paper, tissue paper & ribbon!

Through a connection in our neighborhood, Michael & Andy got to ring the Salvation Army bell at Wal-Mart yesterday. It was a 2 hour shift which is a long time for a 4 yr old! They had a great time!

Do you ever find yourself feeling extra sentimental? I've had one of those weeks this week -

I loved watching Kate feed her baby.

I loved our fun morning of crafts & baby dolls.

I love watching David play with the Taggy blanket that Michael played with too.

I love this sweet face & his toothless baby grins.

I loved finding Michael's Santa Dog, Birdie & Bear all tucked in for the day on his bed when I got home from taking him to school.

I love the small Christmas tree in Michael & Kate's bathroom. It had a few ornaments on it and as they have brought home Christmas crafts from church & school, I have added them to the tree.

I love our sweet boy - 5 years old in 7 weeks! Now that's just crazy!!

Seven Months?!? How can it be?!? He is doing a funny thing this week - sucking on his bottom lip. I think it must have something to do with his two bottom teeth getting ready to come in. David had fun this afternoon being the conductor on the "train." Kate & Michael took turns conducting, working on the engine and being passengers. Of course Minnie, Bear & many others joined the train as well. And at one point Michael made a rule that you had to be wearing a hat to ride the train. Too funny. They LOVED this - it was fun watching them play pretend :)

Pastor Ben prayed for our sweet children to know the Lord, love Him with all their hearts & to serve Him all their days. The verse we had read for David is 1 John 3:1 - How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! We chose this verse because David means "beloved, greatly loved." We love you David & we thank God for putting you in our family!!

Some Updates

This little guy is doing great! We took him to the doctor yesterday for his 6 month well-check. No problems with weight gain~He weighed 16lbs, 13oz (25%) & was 26in long (25%). As you can see from the picture, he is starting to try some people food. After reading THIS book, I am introducing food to David differently than I did Michael & Kate. I recommend this book if you are about to be in the baby food stage!

And we couldn't be happier with Kate & her progress with potty training. She is doing awesome!! I am so thankful that it was such an easy transition for her. And hallelujah for having only one child in diapers!!

It is so hard to believe that David is already 6 months old! He is tons of fun & thankfully, so content! His favorites are: chewing on his hands & feet, playing in the exersaucer, watching Michael & Kate, blowing bubbles with his lips and rolling over. The playmat is not his favorite anymore since it keeps him from seeing what is going on! We love you David!

Do you like my use of lower case & capital letters in the title? It is to represent all the shaking that has gone on in OK this past week! Earthquakes, thunderstorms and tornadoes, oh my.

Michael has been doing a great job making his bed each morning!

On Monday after we picked Michael up from school I felt unusually spontaneous. State Farm was doing a special Cars 2 promotion at our local mall. So the kids & I went to stand in line for 45 minutes - they loved the life-size Mater & Lightening McQueen. They also gave the kids totebags full of goodies - Lightening McQueen beach towels, key chains, coloring books, etc. It was definitely worth our time & lots of fun!

Michael has been learning about family in his Pre-K class this week & he had to draw a family crest - I drew the outline of the crest, but he drew everything else (except he had me draw the football & the dog :) He did such a great job writing our last name - his handwriting has drastically improved in these few months of pre-k so far! The top left is Daddy, Kate & Michael playing football. The top right is his favorite food, grilled cheese & the bottom section is our family - Daddy, Mommy, Michael, Kate, David and Matthew. Love it :)

A few other random tid-bits -

~I stood at Michael's door the other night when he was supposed to be falling asleep. He was singing, "If you throw a fit, you might get in trouble. If you do mean things, you might get in trouble. If you take a toy away, that's not sharrrringggg. You should get another toy instead." He kept singing it over & over, making it up as he went. Too funny.

~Kate climbed out of her crib after her nap on Nov. 1. Michael never did this. She was having trouble napping that day. I was in the kitchen & heard her door open & her crying get louder & louder - she came up to me & said, "Mommy, I hit my head." Thankfully she hasn't done it again :) As I type this, she is taking her nap in big girl panties! We started potty training yesterday & she is doing good so far! Michael loves helping cheer her on & giving her stickers!

~Michael asked me the other day, "Mommy, how old are you?" 33. "How old is Daddy?" 31. "Are you serious?!" Ha!

We enjoyed trick-or-treating in our new neighborhood this year. The kids had a blast. Michael told me a few weeks prior that he wanted to be Lightening McQueen. After a little online research I found him this cute race car jumpsuit. Kate loved being a princess - she told me several times that night, "My skirt is pretty Mommy. Pretty skirt!" David was thrilled to have a cute pumpkin hat & booties :) Andy & I laughed at how the kids carried their candy buckets - Michael carried his with the handle in his hand. Kate treated it like a purse & carried it on her arm. Too funny.

BB came for a visit last weekend while Andy was gone. We loved having her with us - Michael challenged BB to at least 10 games of marbles. He said, "BB, can we play marbles?" over. and over. and over. We also enjoyed going to An Affair of the Heart arts & crafts show. Thanks for coming BB! We love you!

Pumpkin Patch Fun!

We had tons of fun at the pumpkin patch this morning with friends! The weather was perfect! Michael loved the hay ride & Kate's favorite was one of the slides - I think she would have gone down it all day long if I had let her. We got to see 3 pigs race which was quite amusing. We have gone to this pumpkin patch almost every year since Michael was born, so it is fun to have him stand by the "How Tall This Fall" sign each year. We came home with 3 beautiful pumpkins for our porch. Fall is the best season of all!

I Want To Remember:

Michael -
*The other day we were quickly trying to get in the car to go somewhere & he said, "Wow Mom. It takes a lot of time to get 3 children in the car!"
*We were talking about our weekly schedule & how on Sundays we go to Church, Mondays - school, Tuesdays - Church, Wednesdays - school, etc. M said, "It's a pattern mom!"
*The other day he randomly said, " An X looks like a sideways cross. But Jesus didn't die on an X, he died on a cross!" Later he said, "You know, God has the whole world in his hands! He's holding the world but he can still do other stuff at the same time because he is all powerful!"
*He is really maturing in his independence - he often walks out of his bedroom in the mornings fully dressed for the day. He has been helping me set the table for dinner, clean the table off after dinner and helping with his lunch for school.

Kate -
*She loves Goodnight Moon right now - "There's the mouse! Right dare! He's in the window!"
*She gets very annoyed with Matthew (our dog, aka our 4th child :) - she will say with much enthusiasm, "No Bapew! Go lay down Bapew! No!"
*She sleeps with endless toys now - her ducky pillow, Minnie, Kitty Cat, etc...she takes FOREVER to arrange them all, if I let her :)
*When Kate sees David she says, "Hey Lil' Man!"
*Lately nap time has been a bit challenging - sometimes she takes over an hour to fall asleep. Thankfully she is happy & just sings & talks...The other day she sang "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," & then said, "Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, where are you?" Over. and. Over. and. Over...
*The other day we were driving home & I said, "Home again, home again, Jiggity, jig." Kate thought this was really funny & she started saying it over & over - we all kept saying it in different silly voices. Fun times :)

ACU 10 Year Reunion

This weekend we went to Abilene for my 10 year college reunion at ACU. It was a BUSY weekend & the kids did amazing - we just dragged them everywhere & kept them up way too late :)

Saturday morning I got up at 5:00am to go to my social club, GATA, Homecoming Breakfast - It started at 6:30 - early!! But lots of fun! Great to see girls I hadn't seen in 10 years!

We met Candice, Rob, Maddie & Audrey on campus for lunch - it was fun to take pictures of the kids on campus.

My one picture of all 4 of the kids together - they're like little ants scurrying around!

We walked over to the amphitheater to take some pictures - I love the ACU amphitheater - so many memories - Welcome Week, Freshman candlelight devo, ACU Leadership camps, ETC.

Saturday night was our class of 2001 event. Here I am with Spiritual Life Committee girls - Raina & Rachel. I wish I had taken more pictures!!

Sunday we went to church at Beltway which was a special end to a great weekend!

I cannot believe David is already 5 months old. I told him today that he is growing too fast & that he must slow down. He just looked at me & grinned :) I'm so in love with this little man. He is so much fun & so happy...he has discovered his feet & is constantly holding them, trying to get his toes in his mouth, or chewing on his hands. I am also in love with these pics I took today - the black & white one is going in our hall.

Andy was gone this weekend so we kept ourselves busy! On Saturday the kids LOVED making cookies - I think I have posted about this recipe before - this molasses dough is awesome because it doesn't have eggs so the kids can sneak a nibble here & there (or in Michael's case, a handful :) as they cut. I also love that the only sweetener is molasses.

I have been getting the watercolors out for Michael after Kate starts her nap. He loves it & it keeps him busy for quite a while.

Michael being a sweet big brother

The gorgeous view from our front door - Houses will be there eventually but for now we are really enjoying the sunsets at our new house. Weird Blogger - I can't figure out what it is doing with this border...

Andy surprised me with a birthday dinner at our house - he invited friends over for steaks & he even treated me to yummy cupcakes from Pinkitzel (a cute cupcake place in downtown OKC). This fun evening definitely made up for my actual birthday when all of us (except David) got the stomach bug!

I was able to pool my birthday money together & get a Nikon SLR. I can't wait to learn more but I have had fun playing with it the last few days...

I took David to his 4 month appointment - he weighed 13 lbs, 10 oz - 25th percentile. He got a great report & was a champ through 4 vaccines.

Singing to Minnie

Why, oh why do we buy toys?? Kate found these popsicle molds in my cabinet & played with them for at least 15 minutes.

Kate LOVES her "friends" & wants to nap & sleep at night with ALL of them - from left to right - Bunny, Sally, Duckie, Minnie, Baby & Blanket. Such original names, I know :)

Again, who needs toys?! Michael & Kate have been fascinated with all the tractors & dirt across from our house as they begin Phase 2 of our neighborhood.

Kate has been quite a busy girl lately...busy as in the "don't look away too long, she is up to something" kind of way!

Kate loves the built in desk in her room - the other day I went to check on her & she had put the entire contents of her bookshelf in this drawer. Yipee. She is telling me all about it in the above photo.

Also this day when I got her up from her nap I realized she had a nice sized cut in her shirt. Where she found scissors & used them is my question.

Kate loves her "friends" Minnie, Bunny & Blanket (Yes, Blanket is a friend :) She carries them into the kitchen after naptime each day. I wanted a photo of her holding all of them but she dropped them right when I took the pic.

She has discovered that it is fun to dump all the contents of her toy boxes into her bed. We took a little disciplinary action on this one, so hopefully it won't happen again :)

A few other adventures recently -

*She ate a worm. Yes, you read that correctly. We went fishing last Thursday & when Andy wasn't looking she reached down into the dirt of the worm box, pulled out a piece of worm (not a whole worm, lol) & ate it, before Andy could do anything. Gross. Kate, we will tell this story about you for years to come :) But a few days later she ate something that beats the worm in grossness. Andy & I went to the new OKC outlet mall (which I will NEVER take all 3 kids to again - complete disaster!!) Andy agreed to watch Kate & give David a bottle while Michael & I quickly went to a few stores that I wanted to go in. While Andy was feeding D, K reached under the table, pulled off a piece of already-chewed-gum & PUT IT IN HER MOUTH! AHHHHHH! Thankfully Andy caught her & pulled it out of her mouth. When he told me (I wish he hadn't!) I wanted to POUR the antibacterial gel in her mouth! I didn't, but I wanted to :) On a side note, Andy was in charge of brushing K's teeth after both incidents!

Sunday at the restaurant after church she found the salt shaker & somehow managed to pour most of it out on the table & all over her. I promise, we are supervising this girl! Yesterday I took K & D to Kohl's after dropping M off at Pre-K. After we had been there a few minutes I noticed she had a large sticker on her shirt. I didn't remember her getting a sticker so I bent down to look at it - It said, "Adjustable Waistband." She had pulled it off a pair of pants at some point. Oh this little lady - she is a laugh a minute I tell you!

David is 4 Months Old! 9-11-11

We are loving every minute with this sweet little guy! He is just growing way to fast! He is doing great - sleeping SO well, eating well (I weaned him this month & transitioned him to formula) & he is consistently happy & content. He is having to learn how to be flexible with his naptimes because of our schedule with Michael & Kate...not as much home time these days. But he is handling it pretty well. He loves his hands - most of the time he has them clasped like in the first picture or he is chewing on them. He dropped his swaddle around his arms this month & he seems to be done with the pacifier - just not interested in it. We love you so much David!
By the way, I am really enjoying these month by month stickers that my sweet friend Carrie gave me - They are called Sticky Bellies - You can purchase them here.

David is doing great & we are so thankful! These 3 months have FLOWN by! There is just something wonderful about the 3 month mark - his crying & tummy troubles have settled down, he is getting into a much more predictable routine during the day & he is sleeping through the night, about 9 hours between feedings - Hallelujah!! He does great during tummy time & seems to be so strong. He rolls from his tummy to his back all the time. He laughed for the first time this week & has also started grabbing his toys on his playmat.

that's Kate. Aunt Amanda & Uncle Matt mailed sunglasses in her birthday package & she has worn them constantly. Even at dinner. Some of the cute/funny things she is saying these days -

"I did it!" "Yay! I help you!" The way she says Michael - "Guycull" & Matthew (our dog) - "Bapew" "I don't like it." "ok! Just a second."

When I go get her in the morning the first thing she says - "A diaper change Mommy, a diaper change."

The other day I said, "Hi pretty Kate," & she replied, "Hi pretty Mommy."

She was playing in her room by herself with the door closed. I opened the door to check on her & she looked at me & said, "Bye Mommy. Bye!" A few minutes later I checked on her again & she said, "Have a great day Mommy! Bye!"

She is getting very good at repeating what we say. Now I can ask her, "Kate, when do we obey?" and she replies, "First time, every time." We also tell Matthew to get out of the kitchen quite often. He was in the kitchen yesterday during lunch & she said, "Out of the kitchen Bapew! Out of the kitchen!"

The other night after Kate's bath I asked her, "Kate, do you want to sit on the potty?" She said yes & sat down, acting like it was no big deal. She went right away & Michael said, "Mommy! Kate went pee in the potty! I'm so proud of you Kate!" She looked SO excited. She got up & jumped around, clapping her hands & saying, "Yay!"

Kate turned 2 on July 2nd! We celebrated on Saturday with family. Kate was very subdued most of the party - not sad but not really happy either. Maybe it was a lot for her to take in. She loved opening gifts and even let Michael help her. She got some really fun, girly gifts, which is great since she is surrounded by cars, Bob the Builder and other boy things all the time. Andy & I got her a big box of play jewelry, which she has been wearing almost constantly since the party. My mom made her an adorable Ladybug dress to wear. It ended up being just a little big on her so hopefully she can wear it next summer too!

We finally got a smile when she was at the table waiting on her cupcake.

Family Visits

My mom visited us for a week! In the above picture Michael is helping her sew Kate's birthday dress. M, K & D had lots of fun playing with Mommom & as always, she helped me a ton!! I am so thankful for her :) Andy & I spent lots of time house hunting this week while she was here. By the way, I don't think I've mentioned it on the blog - we sold our house! It sold 3 weeks ago - only 33 days on the market! Tomorrow is the inspection & we will breathe a sigh of relief when that is over! We don't close until August 26th, which we are thankful for because house hunting & packing will not be an easy task with our 3 "helpers." House hunting is going pretty well - we have an awesome realtor, but it has been really tiring in this heat. We hope to find a house soon.

On Saturday we had a small family party to celebrate Kate turning 2! Grandma, Granddad, BB & Papa came up for the day. This was Grandma & Granddad's first time to meet David.

I turned 2 months yesterday! Wow! And what a big week I've had - I'm smiling & cooing more & more. I also surprised Mommy & Daddy by rolling over from my tummy to my back on Sunday!! They couldn't believe it. This is MUCH earlier than my brother or sister!

This week my dear friend Candice came to visit with her girls, Maddie & Audrey. We loved having them here. It was a bit crazy - I can't imagine why! Just 5 kids, age 4 & under in 1 house :) But it was fun to make memories & I love that our kids will know each other as they grow up, considering Candice & I met the 1st day of Kindergarten & many of my childhood memories include her. One evening C & I snuck away to get frozen yogurt & go grocery shopping. We agreed that the next time we get together it will be a girl weekend without kids :)

The other day I put David on the floor to kick around. I went into the kitchen to get a drink & I heard Kate say, "Diaper. Diaper for David." *Last night Michael brought Bear & our small Boppy into the living room & said, "I'm going to feed Bear like you feed David, Mommy." He sat down with the Boppy (Photo in below post), lifted up his shirt & put Bear on his tummy. Then he lifted up Bear & made him cry, "Waa, Waa, Waa." Then he said, "Be quiet Bear, you need to eat!" & then he hit Bear on the head. He continued to feed Bear & Andy walked into the living room & told Michael it was time to get his teeth brushed. M said, "In a second, I'm feeding Bear." Andy said, "Bear's full. He needs to burp." He took Bear from M & pretended to burp him & then made a pretend burping sound. It was SO funny! Who needs TV when we have this kind of entertainment??

*The other night after dinner I gave M his vitamins. He sat them on the kitchen table & Andy came into the kitchen & asked Michael why his vitamins were on the table. Michael very matter-of-factly said, "Well, my penis flipped out of my underwear and I had to put it back." Wow. Kids have no filter. They just tell it like it is :)

*Michael was pushing the grocery cart & making a really loud noise. Andy asked him what he was doing & Michael said, "Well, that's my machine noise. It's kinda different...I'm pretending."

*We were driving on the highway & a motorcycle passed us. Michael said, "Look Mommy! He's wearing a helmet! He made a good decision!"

Love our funny, sweet 4 year old! He is really keeping us on our toes & keeping us laughing these days - and sometimes I want to pull my hair out :) But we love him so.

Kate is just a funny, funny girl. She is our little entertainer. Above photo - She is sticking out her tongue, waiting for more pineapple.

Some funny things she's been saying - "I pretty Mommy." "I cute Mommy." "I funny Mommy." And then she laughs & laughs :) She LOVES to sing & sings all the time - Andy made up a really cute song about washing your body when he gives them a bath, so she sings that a lot - "Wash your body, wash wash your body." She also loves to say, "ABC, sing with me! A, B, C...and then she trails off & gets some of the letters correct - different ones at different times :) She also loves Old McDonald & helping with the animal sounds. She says, "E, I, E, I, EEEEE."

She is becoming quite the little mommy - her favorite toys right now are diapers & wipes. She puts diapers on all her favorite dolls & stuffed animals. She loves to get me a diaper & wipes for David - "Here Mommy, Here. A diaper for David." She also has become quite the expert at giving David his pacifier. Her favorite food at breakfast is Cheerios. She gets so excited when she sees me pouring them in her bowl - "Yay! Cheerios!"

She is a DELIGHT & we are so thankful for her! We can't believe she will be 2 in 2 weeks!

Sweet Baby

David has been sleeping most of the time but in the last few days he has been awake a little more. He is such a blessing and we love him so much already. He has fit right into the family. Several things we are specifically thankful for - he didn't have any jaundice (M & K both did); he is taking a pacifier (M & K both didn't), he is sleeping well in his car seat (K never has). He is eating and sleeping great - Andy gives him a bottle around 10:30 & he is already doing only one night feeding around 3am and then sleeps until around 7am. So I have been feeling somewhat rested :) At David's 2 week appt. he weighed 7lbs, 6oz (20%) and was 20in long (20%). David has also already been in a tornado shelter - Fortunately it didn't phase him & he slept straight through the whole ordeal! What an eventful 3 1/2 weeks!

Last Week of School

Kate had a wonderful year in her MDO class with Ms. Kelly & Ms. Debbie. She always walked in & began playing right away, never looking back at me. Her teachers were so sweet & thoughtful too!

Michael LOVED school this year - This is Ms. Cynthia. His other teacher, Ms. Kylie, was out of the room when we took the picture :( He loved his teachers & has mentioned them a lot these last few weeks since school has ended - "Where do they live? Can I send them a picture? I want to draw a picture for my teachers & mail it to them." are just a few of the things I've heard Michael say recently. We can't wait for Michael to start Pre-K in the fall at this wonderful school!

Uncle Steven

Uncle Steven got to stay at our house for a few days while Mommy, Daddy & David were at the hospital. We had SO much fun with him! I followed him around everywhere & asked him LOTS of questions (He was very patient with me :). One morning Daddy & Uncle Steven took Kate & me to the Science Museum. Kate & I loved playing doctor with him too! I hope I get to see Uncle Steven again soon!

We stayed at the hospital Wednesday through Sunday. My doctor wanted me to stay as long as possible, because after 3 c-sections in 4 years, my muscles were shot. I have been wearing an abdominal binder & also been told not to lift for 4 weeks - very challenging with a nearly 2 year old! But fortunately we have had lots of help from family!

David Foster Nelson arrived on Wednesday, May 11 at 7:26am. He weighed 6 lbs, 14 oz, was 20 inches long, has a small amount of dark hair and is perfect in every way :) We are so thankful!

We have been really busy & I've been horrible at taking pictures. We had our master bathroom remodelled, which was 4 weeks of total confusion. But we are so excited & pleased with how it looks. It may be worthy of a blog post, "Ode to a Bathroom." It has been quite the journey.

Michael has been taking gymnastics & really likes it. The last two weeks he has been taught by Coach Steve, Olympic Gold Medalist Shannon Miller's coach. How cool is that? He has figured out how to count to 20 & does it all the time. He has been spelling small words from memory - "B-I-G spells big Mommy!" "S-T-O-P spells stop!" He LOVES school - on Mondays I pick him up at noon & he always wants to stay. He has been mentioning reading & how he can't wait to learn how.

On April 3rd, Michael & Kate started sharing a room to prepare for Baby David's arrival. Overall, it has gone really well. The first night they talked & giggled & played until after 10. But each night is getting better & the newness is wearing off.

Kate turned 21 months on April 2nd. She is quite entertaining. As the kids go to bed we all pray together - Kate will hold out her hands & say, "Pay? Pay?" Then we all hold hands & she puts her head down. As we pray she says, "Dear God, Dear God, Dear God" over & over :) It is so cute. Then she enthusiastically says, "Aaaa-men!" As we leave the room she says, "Nigh, nigh, bye bye," and waves to us.

The other day Kate found a small bottle of antibacterial gel from her church bag. She had opened it & was shaking it on the carpet. I quickly took it away from her & told her no. She said, "Ohhh man!!" It was hilarious. Michael says 'oh man' a lot, from Swiper on Dora, so I am sure that is where she got it. Since then Michael loves to make her say 'oh man' & they say it back & forth. We may take a break from Dora :)

Michael & Kate like to bring their little chairs into the living room to watch a show after nap time. And of course, Bear has to have his own chair.

I walked into the dining room the other day & said, "Michael! What is this?!" "Mommy, it's our garage sale!" (This was just a few days after we had our garage sale.)

This guy was in our front yard the other morning! He was HUGE. Thankfully, he didn't stick around too long. Andy took a lot of photos of him, so I guess he was camera shy because he left soon after.

Underwear, Gymnastics & Kissing...

Last Thursday Michael started gymnastics. He LOVED it. It took him a few minutes to warm up, but eventually he was having a ball. He has asked everyday since if he gets to go today.

After class I took M & K to Chick-fil-a for lunch. When we got there I needed to use the ladies' room & Michael informed me that he needed to go potty too. Kate & I went in one stall & he went in another one. Then in a VERY loud voice he shouted from the other stall, "Mommy! I'm not wearing any underwear!" It was so funny, especially when I realized another lady was in the bathroom, laughing quietly to herself. Michael has been getting dressed by himself in the mornings for a while now, but this is definitely the first time he has forgotten underwear.

Another humorous conversation he & I had the other night - I was tucking him in bed & he said, "Mommy, I want to give you a kiss." I turned my cheek towards him, but he put both hands on my face & tried to turn my face towards him. "I want to kiss you on the mouth." he said. I told him that I would rather him kiss me on the cheek. He asked why of course. I told him that moms & their kids kiss each other on the cheek (at least we do anyway :) So he said, "Well, can I kiss my friends on the mouth?" I said, "No, that wouldn't be a good idea. You can hold hands or hug your friends." (Or not touch them at all! is what I was thinking :) Then he said, "But why? I like to kiss on the mouth!" Ummm...you do? At age four? And you know this from experience?!? It was quite funny...I had to work really hard to keep from laughing.

Garage Sale!

We had our first ever garage sale last weekend. It was very successful on Friday - beautiful weather, lots of people & we sold a lot as well! Saturday was cold & horrible garage sale weather - we did manage to have a few customers and sell a few more things. Michael was my little helper...and Matthew too - he's in the background. He helped by being my guard dog:) Overall, the sale was a success and I will do one again - but not in the near future & never again at 33 weeks pregnant :)
