this & that

1. What our kitchen table often looks like these days - M & K painting or drawing & David eating-ha :) 2. M K & D love the cd player/microphone that Mommom & Papa George gave them for Christmas
3. M's kinder teacher brought this sign by our house after his surgery - M was so proud of it! So sweet of his teacher & his classmates. 4. M & K had all their 'friends' lined up for school :)

Life Group Christmas Party

A year ago, in January, we visited this life group through our new church, Life Church. We had no idea how much this amazing group of people would change our lives. We adore these people & are so thankful for them. They were so supportive during Michael's ordeal (2 of the couples even drove to Dallas to be with us!) & they did the sweetest thing - our Christmas party was supposed to be Dec 9th. Once we knew that M would have surgery on the 7th, they cancelled the party & moved it to the end of Dec so we could be there. Love these guys!!
Erin gave all the girls these cute Loft scarves!
the silly boys felt the need to try them on too - haha :)

Christmas Day

We had a pretty quiet Christmas day - just our family & Uncle Steven. The kids opened gifts from Santa - they had to be patient because David is such a late sleeper :) Michael got his taxi (which is what he told his surgeon right before his surgery that he wanted for Christmas). We also got some snow - not  as much as we were hoping for, but enough to say it was a White Christmas :)

Downtown OKC

We kept hearing people mention the spectacular Christmas decorations in downtown OKC - we were really cautious about getting M out in the cold or in public, but we finally decided to bundle up (it was SO cold) & go see! Such fun! Uncle Steven was visiting for a few days too!

Christmas 2012 Family Pic

Look at that happy, healthy, handsome kiddo in the middle!! Only 2 weeks post-op in this picture!! God is GOOD!

And a silly pic - David posing & Andy's creeper face make me laugh :)

Nelson Christmas

BB & Papa took care of Michael for the week before Christmas so he could have some more quiet time to rest & heal. We decided to celebrate Christmas w/ BB, Papa, Uncle Steven & Uncle Matt, Aunt Manda & cousin Henry the weekend they brought M back to us. It was a fun time, yummy food & lots of laughs with the Nelson/Morgan family tradition of writing poems to help people guess what their gift is.  I cooked ham, green beans (had an unfortunate incident with black pepper - the lid to my pepper shaker wasn't on tightly, so when I went to shake pepper over the green beans, the lid fell off & a mound of pepper went into the skillet. Lovely.)  We also had sweet potatoes, pineapple salad, spinach salad, bread & of course, I had to make my mom's chocolate pie!
I think this was our first Christmas to celebrate with Matt & Manda ??!! Yay!
sweet cousin picture :)
Uncle Matt & Uncle Steven!

Ugly Sweater Christmas Party

Backtracking on the ol' blog...so much catching up to do! In December our neighborhood had an ugly sweater party. SO much fun! And hilarious!! We were all really heavy hearted that day because Sandy Hook had just happened, so it was nice to have some comic relief.

Hilarious that one guy came in an OU sweatshirt & another in a UT one. The sweater vests on the men definitely made a nice statement! The guy in the footie pj's won the "ugliest sweater" award - which brought about some questioning - footie pj's aren't really a sweater?!?!
My sweet friend Erin, who did an awesome job hosting the party!
The pretty ladies in some pretty sweaters!
